Film production requests interstate closures

The Associated Press

11/2/2009

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Motorists who travel through Albuquerque on Interstates 25 and 40 this week will see parts of the highways closed due to a film production.

The movie "Due Date" starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx requested the closures. The film is about an anxious father rushing to see his child's birth.

A section of southbound lanes of Interstate 25 on Albuquerque's south side will be closed Tuesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Overnight Wednesday, a section of Interstate 40's eastbound lanes will be closed on the city's west side.

A similar closure angered drivers last month. They say the film business is going too far when they request interstate closures.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation says this time they've chosen less congested spots for the closures than the previous closure.
