We have professional, knowledgeable dispatchers that have years of experience in the trucking industry and know how to treat a driver fairly and with respect for the job that they do. We know that quality home time is important to a driver and we work hard everyday to make sure our drivers get home and are proud to say they work for General Transport.
General Transport began as a freight brokerage company in Akron Ohio in 1984 and was started by a former driver. The company and Owner-Operator dry van fleet was established in 1988. As a family owned and operated company we service several Fortune 500 companies and manage to remain in touch with our drivers' needs.
* Average length of haul is 1100 miles.
* Weekly miles range from 2500 to 3000
* Gross weekly settlements, including fuel surcharge and paid deadhead(over 50 miles) average from $2900 to $4000, paid through direct deposit.
* Additional pay for multiple stops, driver assist and detention time.
* Bonus pay available for:
o Violation free logs
o Annual safety bonus paid after anniversary date
o Violation free DOT inspection
o Referrals
* EFS fuel cards
* General Transport provides and pays for:
o Quarterly fuel tax
o Cargo and liability insurance
o Permits
o Drug Testing
o Door Signs, Permit Book, supplies
* General Transport provides 48 ft. and 53 ft. late model dry vans, rent free.
* 97% of freight is "no touch"; with lumper pay available
You, as the Owner of the power unit, are responsible for the following:
* Minimum 3 years driving experience.
* Base plates
* All tolls and scale tickets
* Cell phone for communicating with dispatch
* Long-form physical and card, and annual inspections for tractor.
* Bob-Tail/ Deadhead non-trucking Liability Insurance
* Bobtail and physical damage insurance available to you from our provider:
o CURRENT RATES:
o Bobtail: $34 per month
o Physical Damage: 3.5% of the value of the your tractor
